July 25, 2006
The first waves of employee relocations are slated for early next year and 2008.

The Boeing Co. said Friday it plans to shut down operations at its space and defense facility in Anaheim by the end of the decade and will begin relocating the more than 3,000 employees to offices in Huntington Beach.

The first waves of employee relocations are slated for early next year and 2008, with the process expected to be completed by 2010, the company said.

Boeing employs roughly 3,700 people at the Anaheim complex, all working on various projects under the company's Integrated Defense Systems unit.

No layoffs are planned at this time, spokeswoman Kari Kelley said.

The company said it will begin design and construction for the Huntington Beach site immediately.

Boeing said it would work with local government when it comes time to redevelop the Anaheim property.
