TULSA, Okla., April 17, 2007—The NORDAM Group opened its newly constructed 120,000-square-foot aircraft cabinetry manufacturing plant in Wichita, Kan. The move from its existing 45,000-square-foot facility is a result of NORDAM’s growing executive cabinetry programs, which now include Cessna Aircraft Company’s CJ4, and reinforces the company’s strategic commitment to the aircraft interiors business. The opening of the facility marks NORDAM’s five year anniversary in Wichita.
"When we decided to begin our cabinetry operations in Wichita, we knew success would depend on the quality of our cabinetry and service to the customer," said Tray Siegfried, NORDAM vice president of Business Jet Sales and Strategic Resources. "Now, five years later, we produce cabinetry for a number of aircraft and have a highly efficient new facility designed to provide a high quality, competitively priced product for our customers."
Currently, NORDAM supplies custom executive aircraft cabinetry kits for Embraer’s Legacy 600, Pilatus Aircraft’s PC-12, and Cessna Aircraft Company’s Citation CJ4. The new plant creates additional production opportunities by tripling the facility’s total size, doubling manufacturing space, and maximizing work flow efficiency by incorporating six sigma and Lean principles. Operations will gain increased capacity from specialized features including advanced dust filtration and ventilation systems, down draft paint booths, and an in-house FAA approved burn lab.
"When we began, we were a small shop with 60 stakeholders," said Russ DeVasure, general manager of NORDAM Wichita. “Today, we are growing the business as we move into our new facility, increase our workforce to over 150 stakeholders, and begin the brand new CJ4 program. These are significant and exciting milestones; achievements that will help build our cabinetry business for decades to come."
