Baker’s School of Aeronautics is First AMTSociety Corporate Member

Baker's School of Aeronautics becomes the First Corporate Sponsor of the AMTSociety. Jennifer C. Baker, Owner/President of the prestigious A&P Training Facility located in Nashville, Tennessee, was presented a plaque and tribute by Tom Hendershot, Executive Director, at the 41st Tennessee Mid-South Aviation Maintenance Conference held Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Radisson-Opryland dinner meeting which had more than 100 notables in attendance.

According to Hendershot, "We are proud to have our first Corporate supporter of AMTSociety be such an important player in the industry. Supporting mechanics with advanced training ties in with the goals and objectives of AMTSociety. We look forward to a long relationship where we can provide students who attend Baker's School with all of the member benefits that AMTSociety offers and very much appreciate Baker’s School’s support of our efforts."

Baker's School of Aeronautics

(Formerly King's School of Aeronautics) has been located at the Nashville Metropolitan Airport since 1973. In January 1987 it relocated to a beautiful new facility right off the airport. It is located at the Focal Pointe Business Park, 1645-M Murfreesboro Rd., just two blocks from the Nashville Airport. Baker's prepares the aviation mechanic for his or her FAA written exams, oral, and practical examinations. In addition, it offers a four-day preparation course for the certified A&P mechanic wishing to obtain his or her Inspection Authorization rating, and weekend preparation courses for private, commercial, and instrument ratings.

AMTSociety

AMTSociety was formed in 2005 as an affinity group to provide online certification testing and renewal programs and provide benefits and industry resources to members.

Its mission statement is: To actively promote and protect the professional aircraft maintenance technician’s craft and profession through active education, safety initiatives, legislative representation, and public awareness activities, work toward opportunities to enhance the future of the aircraft maintenance profession, and to provide resources and benefits to its members.

Last year AMTSociety sponsored several IA renewal training seminars around the country and is planning to increase the number and locations in the future.

Tom Hendershot was hired as the executive director in January and an advisory council was formed that includes Ken MacTiernan, Peter Zeeb, George Miller, Joe Hawkins, Kevin Curry, and Joe Escobar. Greg Napert is AMTSociety Director.
