Alteon Opens New Training Center in Shanghai

The training center will be fully operational by the end of 2007 with placement of a 757/767 full flight simulator to accommodate Shanghai Airlines and other regional operators.

SEATTLE, August 23, 2007 – Alteon Training, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA), announced it will open a new training center in Shanghai which will house the first Boeing 787 full-flight simulator in China. In addition, Alteon has signed a partnership agreement with Shanghai Airlines to co-locate the training center at Shanghai Airline’s newly opened training center at the Pudong Airport.

The training center will be fully operational by the end of 2007 with placement of a 757/767 full flight simulator to accommodate Shanghai Airlines and other regional operators. The 787 full flight simulator with complete Boeing 787 training services including flight and maintenance training, will be ready in the first half 2008.

Shanghai Airlines, together with four other Chinese airlines, have placed 60 orders for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The airline is scheduled to receive its first Boeing 787 in time for the Beijing Olympics, starting August 2008.

"We are expanding our training capabilities in this important part of the world and this partnership with Shanghai Airlines will provide training solutions at a new, world-class training facility located at one of the newest and most advanced airports in China," said Alteon President Sherry Carbary. "It also provides Shanghai Airlines, and other Chinese carriers, with a convenient east coast location that will minimize travel time for their training needs," Carbary added.

Alteon previously announced it would install 787 simulators in nine locations worldwide including Tokyo, London and Singapore as well as location in India and the United States. The final locations are yet to be announced.
