Burnsville, MN (August 24, 2007) – Cygnus Expositions, the tradeshow division of business-to-business media leader Cygnus Business Media, announced today that AMTSociety will co-sponsor the 11th annual Aviation Industry Expo, to be held March 18-20, 2008 at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. AMTSociety will join the ranks of long-time event co-sponsor National Air Transportation Association (NATA).
A rapidly growing organization for the aviation maintenance community, AMTSociety will drive the educational content offered to maintenance professionals attending Aviation Industry Expo. In partnership with organizations such as Embry-Riddle and the National Center for Aircraft Technician Training (NCATT), attendees can participate in IA renewal sessions, skills competition and various social activities.
Additional partnerships are developing to further enhance the maintenance offerings at Aviation Industry Expo, including management training and maintenance management coursework under the direction of event co-sponsor, National Air Transportation Association's (NATA) Aviation Maintenance and System Technology Committee.
"We are very excited about working with the AMTSociety Board of Directors to provide the best education, training and personal development opportunities for aviation maintenance professionals,” said Anthony (Tony) Costa, Chairman NATA Maintenance and System Technology Committee. “The 2008 Aviation Industry Expo will enable the AMT Society and NATA to highlight new technical developments and business tactics before key maintenance leaders."
Additionally, AMT Society will hold it's first-ever Annual Meeting in concurrence with Aviation Industry Expo. “AMTSociety is honored to hold our first Annual Meeting at this prestigious tradeshow,” said Tom Hendershot, AMTSociety Executive Director. “The Annual Meeting promises to be the premier maintenance event in 2008. We are currently planning in earnest with several partner industry groups. We're excited to step up our role in this ‘must-attend' event for ALL maintenance professionals!”
Hendershot, former Quality Assurance Inspector for Frontier Airlines and “FAA's Aircraft Mechanic of the Year 2003”, was brought on in January 2007 as Executive Director of AMTSociety. In less than a year, under Hendershot's leadership, AMTSociety has doubled its membership. Hendershot has recruited industry leaders as Board of Directors and is initiating a 20 city “IA Renewal Roadshow” beginning in October 2007.
Group Show Director Jill Ryan adds, “We are delighted to welcome the AMTSociety to this pivotal role in Aviation Industry Expo. An enthusiastic advocate of the maintenance community, the Society plays an essential part in the aviation industry. This strategic new direction will strengthen the maintenance segment of Aviation Industry Expo and better serve the needs of our customers, both exhibitors and attendees.”
AMTSociety was launched in 2005 as an affinity group aimed at leveraging the strength of its audience for the purpose of sharing resources and offering benefits. These included advertiser benefits from the magazine Aircraft Maintenance Technology and educational opportunities like discounted seminars and courses. In 2006, AMTSociety converted to a full feature association to better service its rapidly growing membership.
