Proceeds from AeroShell Cow t-shirt sales at EAA AirVenture totaled $7,500. AeroShell was happy to contribute $5,500 of this amount to the Young Eagles program and the remaining $2,000 to Able Flight.

Houston – Shell Aviation, on behalf of the AeroShell® brand and the AeroShell Aerobatic team, is proud to announce that significant charitable contributions have been made to both the EAA’s Young Eagles program and to Able Flight, Inc. The contributions come from the proceeds of the popular “AeroShell Cow T-shirts” offered by AeroShell Lubricants at the recent EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, and from the auction of rides with the AeroShell Aerobatic team, also at AirVenture Oshkosh in July.

Shell Aviation, and specifically the AeroShell brand, has been a long-time supporter of the Young Eagles program. Says Paul Royko, US Technical Account Manager for AeroShell and author of the popular AeroShell Answer Column; “AeroShell strongly believes in the positive affect that the Young Eagles program has on our youth. This program opens up the joy of flight to many youngsters who, otherwise, might never have the opportunity to experience it. We’re happy to do all we can to support this very important program.” For many years, AeroShell has donated the proceeds from the sale of t-shirts at AirVenture Oshkosh to the Young Eagles program. According to Royko, shirt sales were greater than ever this year so the determination was made to divide the profit between Young Eagles and another very worthy cause, the relatively new Able Flight™ organization.

The purpose of Able Flight is to offer people with disabilities a unique way to challenge themselves through flight training, and by doing so, gain greater self-confidence and self-reliance. Formed just over one year ago, Able Flight has already awarded six full flight school scholarships. Two of these scholarships have gone to wounded veterans. Jerry Toenjes, US Sales Manager for AeroShell, stated, “When I learned of the unique Able Flight program, I immediately knew this was an organization that was worthy of our support. We all know the feeling of independence and freedom we have when we’re flying. To be able to help people with disabilities, especially our wounded American heroes enjoy this same feeling of independence and self-reliance is definitely something that AeroShell wanted to be a part of. We hope that our contribution, and the contributions of others, can help Able Flight to grow and expand their outstanding program.”

In all, proceeds from this year’s t-shirt sales totaled $7,500. AeroShell was happy to contribute $5,500 of this amount to the Young Eagles program and the remaining $2,000 to Able Flight. Toenjes says “We plan to continue our support of these two fine organizations, and hope that in the future the continued popularity of our cow t-shirts will allow us to build upon these contributions even further.”
