FlightSafety Announces Promotions at its Learning Centers

John Kelleher, David Glass, and Matthew Cox are promoted at FlightSafety's Learning Centers.


LA GUARDIA AIRPORT, New York (October 30, 2007) – FlightSafety International has promoted John Kelleher to Assistant Manager of the company’s Teterboro, New Jersey Learning Center.

“We are pleased John has received this well deserved promotion,” said Greg McGowan, Vice-President, Operations, FlightSafety International. “Our customers who train at Teterboro will benefit from John’s 35 years of civil and military aviation experience, his commitment to enhance safety through high quality, professional training and his willingness to help ensure that they receive programs tailored to their specific needs.”

Prior to joining FlightSafety in 2005, John was CEO for Sky River Management for four years and Director of Aviation Services with AFLAC Incorporated for seventeen years. He also worked as a contract instructor pilot for the United States Navy Training Command.

Kelleher served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1981 as a pilot with responsibility for aircraft maintenance support. He graduated from the University of West Florida with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina and is type rated on the Citation 1, Dassault Falcon 900EX and Sabreliner aircraft.

FlightSafety International has promoted David Glass to Assistant Manager of the company’s Learning Center in Houston, Texas.

“David’s experience in military and civil aviation training, his leadership abilities and dedication to customer service will be a great asset in Houston,” said Greg McGowan, Vice-President, Operations, FlightSafety International. “His promotion to Assistant Manager is another example of the strength and depth of our team.”

Glass joined FlightSafety in 2004 as an Instructor and Training Center Examiner at the Airline Learning Center in St. Louis, Missouri. He was promoted to Director of Standards in 2006 and also served as an FAA Designated Training Center Evaluator for the Embraer ERJ-170 training program and the Center’s Quality Coordinator.

He served in the United States Marine Corps on active duty for twelve years and in the Reserve for ten more; as a joint staff officer, forward air controller, aircraft safety officer and squadron standardization pilot. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and then flew for Trans World Airlines and American Airlines and was an FAA Check Airman. His type ratings include the McDonnell Douglas DC-9, Boeing 757/767 and Embraer ERJ 170/190 aircraft.

Glass holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University and a Masters in Management from Troy State University. He also attended the Naval Post Graduate School.

The Houston Learning Center offers regional airline and business aviation training programs for a variety of aircraft manufactured by ATR, Bombardier, Commander, Embraer, Hawker Beechcraft and Saab. The Center features thirteen FlightSafety designed and manufactured simulators and newly renovated MATRIX equipped classrooms and Customer Service areas.

FlightSafety International announced today that Matthew Cox has been appointed Assistant Manager of the company’s Greater Philadelphia/Wilmington Learning Center.

“Matt is a valued member of the FlightSafety team and has continuously demonstrated his ability and commitment to provide our customers with the highest quality training,” said Greg McGowan, Vice-President, Operations, FlightSafety International. “He has the leadership skills, customer-focused attitude, knowledge and experience necessary to support our Greater Philadelphia/Wilmington Center customers and to assist with the management of one of our largest Centers.”
