Lufthansa Technik's Completion Center is the first in the world to have signed a contract for the completion of a Boeing 747-8 for a VIP customer. The customer, whose identity has not been disclosed, signed a memorandum of understanding with Lufthansa Technik at the beginning of November. Installation of the interior for the latest version of the Jumbo will entail maximum 18 months of work at the Hamburg Completion Center. It was only this September, at the NBAA Convention, that Lufthansa Technik announced its Completion Centre was ready to handle the Boeing 747-8.

"Our accumulated decades of experience at fitting out Boeing 747 aircraft is the most convincing argument in favor of Lufthansa Technik. Our experience of this type encompasses no fewer than 15 completions and major modifications; no other provider in the world comes even close to that figure. This makes us the first choice for the 747-8," said August Wilhelm Henningsen, Chairman of Lufthansa Technik, during the press conference at the Dubai Airshow. "The 747-8 is 5.6 meters longer and, as a result, offers almost 50 square meters of extra floorspace compared to a 747-400. This opens up new possibilities for us. We look forward to the challenges which Boeing's new flagship presents, and we will implement our customer's wishes to Lufthansa Technik's expected high standards."

Lufthansa Technik's success story, which spans several decades, is based on first-class engineering using industry-leading methods, the commitment to quality and transparent project management. From customer-specific floorplans to certification, onboard systems and installations, the German Completion Center is constantly driven by the search for outstanding technical solutions.
