This program will sharpen the English language skills of international flight students, air crews, and air traffic controllers, bringing them to an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Level 4 competency.

Daytona Beach, Fla., March 31, 2008 – Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide Campus is expanding to meet the growing educational needs and demands of the international aviation market. Embry-Riddle's International Region, in partnership with Aviorent S.r.l. Flight Academy and Aviation English Services, is launching a new Aviation English language training program. This program will sharpen the English language skills of international flight students, air crews, and air traffic controllers, bringing them to an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Level 4 competency.

The ICAO, a United Nations Specialized Agency, is the global forum for civil aviation. ICAO works to achieve its vision of safe, secure, and sustainable development of civil aviation through cooperation among its member states.

The English language is the world standard for aviation. To this end, a standard of English language proficiency has been established and agreed upon to promote safer skies. The deadline for that proficiency standard has arrived, and member states have agreed to require a proficiency Level 4 for pilots, air crew, and air traffic controllers from this point forward.

Embry-Riddle, Aviorent, and Aviation English Services tailor the program to fit the needs of adult students. The Aviation English program has several modular scheduling and delivery options. ICAO approved pre-testing and post- testing will be provided onsite. In addition to the self-paced learning program, the course includes two days of intensive speaking sessions facilitated by an Embry-Riddle professor to reinforce and sharpen individual language skills.
