Rio de Janeiro, April 8, 2008 – VEM Maintenance & Engineering capabilities growth continues, nonstop. In less than a year, the company has added five new heavy maintenance certifications approved by the world’s most important aviation authorities, joining the other certifications that the company has held for a long time for the maintenance of aircraft and their components.

In August 2007, the company received FAA (Federal Aviation Administration - United States), certification, for the Airbus A300-600 and A310. In January and March 2008, came EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) certification for the A310 and A300-600, respectively. And past week, the FAA has granted certification for servicing the Boeing 777.

VEM has gained its expertise in aircraft maintenance and the repair and overhaul of components in over 80 years of experience. It has more than 16,000 S/N on its Capability List. Its capabilities place it among the top 10 MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) companies, worldwide. As commented by the company’s President, Filipe Morais de Almeida, "...this B-777 certification is in line with the strategy complementing our service portfolio, as a whole, since VEM already performs maintenance services on all of the other models by Boeing, as well as Airbus, Embraer, and Fokker. It also strengthens an opening to the US market, which is very important to us, because it operates a very large number of this aircraft model."
