These preliminary contracts for the completion of a second Boeing 747-8 and Lufthansa Technik's first Boeing 787 further raise the number of contracted wide-body completions due by 2018.

Lufthansa Technik's Completion Center has signed further letters of commitment with undisclosed customers for outfitting wide-body VIP aircraft. These preliminary contracts for the completion of a second Boeing 747-8 and Lufthansa Technik's first Boeing 787 further raise the number of contracted wide-body completions due by 2018. Negotiations are also underway with a number of other prospective customers concerning possible completions by 2018 and beyond.

In addition to the Boeing contracts for two 747-8s and one 787, fixed agreements have already been signed to outfit two Airbus A330s and two Airbus A340s for the German government by 2018. The two A340 will be delivered for completion as early as 2010 and 2011. Additionally Lufthansa Technik will deliver the cabin interior for two Airbus A330s of another government in the next years. Furthermore, eight Airbus A318 Elites, three Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJs) and three Boeing Business Jets (BBJs) for private and government customers will be individually outfitted in Hamburg by 2012 alone.

"We feel confirmed in our concept to have been entrusted once again by the VIP and governmental customers with the interior outfitting of their wide-body aircraft," said Walter Heerdt, Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales at Lufthansa Technik. "Lufthansa Technik has a long tradition of outfitting VIP aircraft, and large ones in particular. The new contracts and letters of commitments prove yet again that we are capable of realising the most challenging and exclusive interiors even for the latest aircraft models of our VIP customers. To meet the strong demand we are expanding our overall completion capacities until mid of 2010. Amongst others we plan to provide an additional completion line for wide-body aircraft in Hamburg. As already announced in the past we will act with caution during the whole process to keep the current excellent level of quality for our customers also in the future."

"Our decades of accumulated know-how are Lufthansa Technik's best argument in its favour, particularly when it comes to outfitting Boeing and Airbus wide-bodies. We have carried out 15 completions and major modifications on Boeing B747 alone, which makes us by far the most experienced provider in the world for this type of aircraft." More than 30 wide-bodies have been completed or refurbished in Hamburg so far. From customer-specific layouts and certification to on-board systems and integration - the German Completion Center constantly strives to find outstanding technical solutions, and is capable of outfitting VIP jets up to the size of an Airbus A380.
