Executive Jet Management Goes Paperless with Maintenix

May 20, 2008
Since the initial delivery of Maintenix in January 2000, EJM has increased the productivity of their maintenance personnel through streamlined maintenance management, detailed tracking of maintenance costs, and improved maintenance planning and resource utilization.

Ottawa, Canada (May 20th, 2008) – Mxi Technologies announced today that Executive Jet Management (EJM), a leading provider of worldwide jet charter and aircraft management services, has successfully gone live with a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved paperless environment using the Maintenix® maintenance management software with its new electronic signature functionality. Using this single, integrated system, EJM maximizes real time collaboration and the efficiency of the maintenance and engineering departments.

In order to approve an electronic record keeping environment, the FAA required Maintenix, EJM's maintenance management system from Mxi, to be in accordance with the Advisory Circular (AC) 120-78. Under this circular, a system must be secure (all confidential information must be protected and cannot be altered in any unauthorized way) and all procedures must be incorporated into EJM's operations manual. Additionally, the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) must be able to review all records and information when necessary, and upon request. As part of the approval process, FAA regulators visited EJM to see the system in effect, to determine how it works and that it is proven to be effective.

Since the initial delivery of Maintenix in January 2000, EJM has increased the productivity of their maintenance personnel through streamlined maintenance management, detailed tracking of maintenance costs, and improved maintenance planning and resource utilization. With the most recent software upgrade, EJM now benefits from advanced Maintenix functionality, such as intelligent work capture, where intuitive interfaces have resulted in the number of written job aids being cut from twenty-eight down to seven.

"Electronic records or 'e-signatures' have increased the efficiency of our maintenance sign-offs and improved the clarity of discrepancy sign-offs, allowing a higher level of accountability and data quality. This results in excellent record keeping and historical tracking of completed work," said Jim Lewis, Senior Vice President of Maintenance Planning and Services.

"It is a pleasure to work with a customer like EJM, who is constantly striving to take full advantage of the productivity improvements that Maintenix offers," said Les Hine, President of Mxi Technologies. "The success of such innovation in maintenance management (in the form of an entirely paperless environment), is largely driven by a customer's willingness to spend time with our team and their regulator, evaluating current processes and working together to implement best practices, and the users at EJM were immediately receptive to the advanced technology that this upgrade offered."
