Orlando, Florida (June 02, 2008) - Adacel, an industry leader in ATM automation, software integration, simulation development and speech recognition technology, announced today that Mr. Gilles Pelletier has been awarded a citation from the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA). Mr. Pelletier has been recognized for his major contribution in producing the DO-306, Safety and Performance Standard for Air Traffic Data Link Services in Oceanic and Remote Airspace (Oceanic SPR Standard).
RTCA, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit corporation that develops consensus-based recommendations regarding communications, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management (CNS/ATM) system issues. RTCA functions as a Federal Advisory Committee. Its recommendations are used by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as the basis for policy, program, and regulatory decisions and by the private sector as the basis for development, investment and other business decisions. Organized in 1935 as the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics, RTCA today includes roughly 335 government, industry and academic organizations from the United States and around the world.

Mr. Pelletier is employed as a Project Manager and Software Developer in Adacel’s Air Traffic Management division located in Montreal, Canada. He has been responsible for many key initiatives in the development of data link communications including the D0-306 standard which has precipitated this award.
He has been a key member of the team developing Adacel’s Aurora ATM automation software, which is now in use in the control of much of the world’s oceanic airspace, including all of the US oceanic airspaces as well as the Reykjavik, Santa Maria and Auckland Flight Information Regions. Adacel’s Aurora system closely integrates controller pilot data link communications (CPDLC) with advanced flight and surveillance data processing including sophisticated conflict detection capabilities. This permits air navigation service provider’s (ANSP’s) to allow airlines to fly user preferred routes and dynamically re route as weather conditions change, saving time and reducing fuel burn and emissions.
