June 12, 2008 (Wichita, Kansas) Yingling Aviation, a Cessna affiliated general aviation services provider located at Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport Has completed a major 9,000-square-foot expansion to its facilities. The additional space is being used to expand Yingling’s McCauley propeller overhaul and service capabilities and accommodate its line service operations. Yingling is an authorized McCauley repair service center.
“This expansion will allow us to move well beyond our traditional aluminum propeller repair and overhaul capabilities and make our shop one of the most modern propeller services facility in the Midwest. It will create new jobs in both the short and long term. We have invested in the latest technology to give us more direct control of our quality. In the past, we used outside vendors to perform some of our analytical inspection processes during the overhaul of a propeller. Those outside processes have now been moved in-house for greater control, lower costs and faster turnaround,” said Lynn Nichols, president of Yingling Aviation.
In addition to the propeller shop, Yingling’s shipping and receiving department has also been centralized and, along with parts inventory and the tool crib, its area has been increased. The expansion also includes a new larger paint shop, two segregated battery rooms for testing and charging, and a new employee lounge.
Yingling’s line services office has also been relocated, and a new garage for ground service equipment was added. To make room for the expansion, a number of concrete T-hangars built in 1954 were razed. This also has provided more room for aircraft parking on the ramp and improved overall visibility and ramp safety. Hutton Construction served as the contractor for the project, completing it in slightly more than seven months.
