Tailwind Technologies Inc., of Piqua Ohio, has acquired AcousticFab Inc., of Sanford, Florida, a company that designs and fabricates a full range of aerospace and military-equipment noise control products and systems. AcousticFab will be the fourth in the Tailwind Technologies portfolio of operating companies, which also includes Hartzell Propeller Inc., Industrial Tube Corporation and Electrofilm Manufacturing Company.

AcousticFab Inc., founded in 1991, specializes in noise control products related to aircraft, ground- based and industrial air-flow systems, such as auxiliary power units (APU), environmental control systems (ECS), electronics cooling systems, main engines, aircraft doors and acoustic panels.

The company’s experience and expertise have earned contracts from companies such as Boeing, Honeywell, Hamilton Sundstrand, Magellan Aerospace, and Hawker Beechcraft, and its products can be found on premier programs such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Embraer Commercial Jets, Bombardier Q400 and Hawker 4000. AcousticFab has also designed and built noise control devices for various systems on the International Space Station.

As with the other entities, AcousticFab Inc. will be privately held by Tailwind Technologies, and will continue to be led by its current president and founder, Julius Mekwinski.

“We are very happy to add AcousticFab, the premier designer and fabricator of noise control solutions, to our portfolio of technology-driven companies”, says James W.
