June 24, 2008 - Lufthansa Technik AG and EADS Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) in Dresden are going to expand their cooperation in the field of conversion and modification of Airbus aircraft. An agreement to this effect for an initial period of two years was signed by representatives of both companies today. The combination of the special technical services of both partners will be the basis for opening up new business markets.

"With the combined know-how of two specialists, EFW in the area of freighter conversion and Lufthansa Technik in the area of cockpit and system upgrades, we are able to improve our strong position in this area," commented Dr. Andreas Heizner, Senior Vice President Aircraft Base Maintenance of Lufthansa Technik. "The cooperation with Lufthansa Technik strengthens our market position as centre of competence for conversions and modifications", explained Andreas Sperl, CEO of EFW, on the occasion of the signing.

The cooperation between Lufthansa Technik AG, Hamburg, and EADS EFW, Dresden, commenced more than 15 years ago. Lufthansa Technik for example provides the necessary cockpit upgrades for all freighter conversions of the Airbus A310/A300-600 in Dresden. The cooperation has also proven its value during the conversion of a total of six Airbus A310 aircraft into Multi-Role Transport Tankers (MRTT).
