Farnborough, July 15, 2008 – Aeroflot Cargo, the air freight division of the Russian airline group Aeroflot, announced today that it has signed an exclusive engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) contract with Snecma Services (SAFRAN Group). The deciding factors in Aeroflot Cargo’s decision were Snecma Services’ broad presence in Russia, its competitive terms and an excellent reputation with local customers.
Aeroflot Cargo is the one of the leaders in the air cargo transport sector in Russia, carrying over 120,000 metric tons a year. Based at Sheremetyevo international airport in Moscow and in Frankfurt-Hahn airport in Europe, its network covers more than 100 destinations (two networks: for freighters and also belly cargo service on all Aeroflot passenger routes).
The three-year contract awarded to Snecma Services covers all CFM56-3 engines powering the carrier’s Boeing 737 Freighter fleet. The MRO services will be provided by Snecma Services Brussels, a center of excellence in CFM56-3 engine support within the Snecma Services OEM network. The contract also includes a custom-tailored spare engine leasing service, to be provided by Shannon Engine Support, a CFM International subsidiary and preferred partner of Snecma Services.
“We are very satisfied with this contract,” said Valery Nikolaenko, vice president for engineering at Aeroflot Cargo. “Snecma Services was very flexible in meeting our price and service requirements and the Aeroflot group greatly appreciates their staff’s technical expertise and responsiveness. Another main factor was the guarantee of OEM support.”
Wilfried Theissen, managing director of Snecma Services Brussels, added: “We are very proud of having earned the confidence of the Aeroflot group. Our current contracts with Aeroflot, Aeroflot Don and Aeroflot Nord clearly show that we have built a long-term relationship with very solid foundations spanning price, quality and turn times.”
