Avemco Continues Support of General Aviation Community Programs

Now all FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) WINGS Knowledge courses worth one full credit or more will qualify for premium credits on owned and non-owned aircraft insurance products.

OSHKOSH, WI (July 30, 2008) – Avemco reaffirmed its commitment to general aviation safety today through the expansion of the company’s Safety Rewards Program. Designed to give incentives for pilots to seek on-going training, this expansion offers significantly more training options than before.

Now all FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) WINGS Knowledge courses worth one full credit or more will qualify for premium credits on owned and non-owned aircraft insurance products. This, along with the additional premium savings when customers participate in Avemco-recognized flight training, can save pilots up to 10 percent on annual premium costs.

“Given the current general aviation accident rate and evidence that pilot error continues to be an on-going issue, the need for pilots to participate in more training is obvious. This industry needs to help itself by working to improve pilot skills and decision making. At Avemco, we take this seriously and that’s why we are rewarding our customers with premium credits.

“Our underwriters worked closely with the FAASTeam managers and determined that the WINGS Knowledge courses, worth one full credit, provide for an excellent training opportunity. Now course offerings from the FAA and some of the industry’s top training providers such as King Schools, ASA, Cessna Advanced Pilot Training, AOPA Air Safety Foundation, Flight Safety International and others are included in the program.” Lauerman said.

Avemco policyholders can also earn premium savings when they participate in Avemco-recognized flight training that goes above and beyond the FAA minimum requirements. This includes dual instruction in areas such as crosswind, tailwheel, aerobatic or mountain flying. And when a pilot steps up to a new certificate, he or she is now eligible to earn the full 10 percent annual premium credit in the Program.

The Avemco Safety Rewards Program was launched in 2003 to take an active role in helping to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents in the general aviation community. In addition to promoting the education of pilots, the program provides premium credits to Avemco’s policyholders. For more information on the Safety Rewards Program visit www.avemco.com.
