Avidyne Announces New Vice President of Engineering

LINCOLN, MA - August 20, 2008 — Avidyne announced today that Tom Neufelder has been named Vice President of Engineering at Avidyne Corporation. An experienced manager of multi-disciplinary, multi-site engineering development organizations in the medical device industry, Neufelder also has past experience in the development of defense avionics systems and ground-based air traffic control radar equipment while serving as a senior engineer at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Baltimore, Maryland. Neufelder holds three patents for methods and devices developed for use in the defense and graphic arts industries.

“Tom Neufelder possesses creative, technical, and managerial talents that will be extremely valuable to Avidyne,” said Patrick Herguth, Avidyne’s chief operating officer. “In each of his previous assignments he has been involved in strategic planning, tactical project oversight and all aspects of the functional management of high-tech development organizations. Neufelder comes to Avidyne from General Electric’s Healthcare organization in Plano, Texas where he served as Vice President and General Manager for Independent Practice Engineering. In that role he was responsible for overall management of the development of the physician practice Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Practice Management (PM) applications. He previously led the engineering organization for GE Medical System’s Invasive Cardiology business at sites in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and Houston, Texas.

A graduate of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, he earned a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore in 1990. He also participated in Management Development courses at General Electric during his tenure there and is certified as a Six Sigma Greenbelt and has completed Master Black Belt DFSS training, as well.
