DAYTONA BEACH, FL – The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide Campus is the recipient of the 2008 Saba Customer Excellence Award for Best Overall Academic Deployment. Excellence awards are presented to organizations committed to advancing human capital management through innovative business strategies that align employees and partners with overarching organizational initiatives for the ultimate goal of increasing customer satisfaction.

The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide Campus will be honored at an award ceremony during the Saba Global Summit on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

Saba Centra technology software provides the backbone for Embry-Riddle's EagleVision system, bringing together voice, video, data, and graphics in a structured online environment to create a virtual classroom unique to Embry-Riddle's global requirements.

One of Embry-Riddle's biggest challenges had been to support its extensive network of small outlying "campuses," where frequently too few students would register for a particular course to justify the cost of an instructor to teach it.

"For example, we might have a top aviation business manager teaching a course in one of our San Diego classrooms, and a handful of students in Seattle and Las Vegas who want to enroll in the same course," says Becky Vasquez, director of student and technology services for Embry-Riddle. "Without adequate numbers to support the cost of instructors in each location, we might have to cancel the outlying course offerings – disappointing those students and reducing our revenue. EagleVision lets us connect our classrooms and offers live courses to students hundreds or thousands of miles away, taught by the best faculty in their field."
