PINEY FLATS, TN -- DART Helicopter Services has announced that its subsidiary, Apical Industries Inc., has recently received EASA approval of its Cylindrical Emergency Float System for MD 369HS/HM/HE/D/E/FF and MD 500N helicopters. Transport Canada and FAA certification have been previously received.

Apical’s System is approximately 50 pounds lighter than the OEM supplied system and has been designed to include several features that ease operation and reduce maintenance costs and down time.

  • Cylinder valve assemblies and floats are available as exchange items
  • Float chambers include field replaceable pressure relief and inflation valves
  • Float bags are on condition and need not be returned to factory for recertification
  • Longer inspection limits

“Overall, this system provides a lighter weight and more cost effective alternative to MD operators, and we are please to now be able to offer it to our customers in Canada, United States, and Europe,” says Jeff Shapiro, CEO of Dart Helicopter Services.
