First Biofuel Flight Across America

Oct. 27, 2008
LookLocal to begin first ever transcontinental biofuel flight from the Pacific Ocean to Kitty Hawk on Oct. 28.

NAPLES, FL -- The Wright Brothers made the first powered flight on Dec. 17, 1903, at what is now First Flight Airport in Kitty Hawk, NC. The brothers did it the 'Wright' way. No suitable engine? They built one. No established control systems? They invented them. This accomplishment was itself a tribute to the spirit of experimentation and discovery. As Charles F. Kettering put it: "The Wright brothers flew right through the smoke screen of impossibility."

We are embarking on our own adventure of discovery; the first ever transcontinental biofuel flight. We will begin at the Pacific Ocean and finish at historic First Flight Airport (KFFA) in Kitty Hawk, NC. We are calling our flight "Get the Lead Out," signifying both the need to remove lead from piston aviation fuel, and as a call to action. We believe local alternatives to the global fuel economy are both possible and practical. Our solution, LookLocal, will deliver limitless water, green fuels, and a huge boost to the national and world economy when teamed with existing technologies.

Our nation can be energy-independent in 10 years if we start implementing this solution today. Our flight will tentatively begin Tuesday, Oct. 28th at Chino airport. The precise date is open, as we need fair weather both in route and at our destination. There will be two rest stops and two fuel stops, one at Tradewinds Airport in Amarillo, TX, and an overnight stop in Memphis, TN.
