Lufthansa Technik and Norwegian Air Shuttle have signed an agreement for overhaul services on more than 100 engines. According to the new contract, Lufthansa Technik will take care of the CFM56-7B engines for all 53 aircraft of Norwegian´s 737NG fleet and further seven spare engines.
The 15-year contract is Lufthansa Technik's largest engine service assignment in Scandinavia to date and the first major order for the new engine overhaul center currently under construction in Hamburg. With the new facility, Lufthansa Technik can shorten the engine processing times and expands its engine overhaul capacity from 320 to more than 400 engines per year.
Lufthansa Technik and Norwegian Air Shuttle are having a close business connection for more than a year now, already making the airline the biggest Scandinavian customer of Lufthansa Technik. "Our German partner has done an outstanding job so far and we are happy that we can trust in Lufthansa Technik's reliable services during our future expansion."
"Our new engine support center in Hamburg is set up following the most modern standards. Last but not least, these efforts result in shortened processing times for our customers," says Dr. Burkhard Andrich, Head of Lufthansa Technik's Engine Services Division. "Norwegian Air Shuttle can fully rely on the quality of the world´s largest manufacturer-independent provider of engine MRO services."
Lufthansa Technik and its global network of subsidiaries and affiliates support virtually every engine and auxiliary power unit (APU) currently in service with airlines around the globe. The services offered range from individually customised repair and overhaul services for engines, modules, individual parts, APUs and other components, to Total Engine Support TES, engineering services, claims and warranty, logistics services and consultancy.
