Hendershot Elected to NBAA Maintenance Committee

The NBAA Maintenance Committee, like AMTSociety, is dedicated to promoting technical education and professional development as a means for corporate maintenance technicians to enhance their careers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Tom Hendershot, Executive Director of AMTSociety, has been unanimously elected to the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Maintenance Committee. He was informed by Vice Chairman Brad Townsend.

The NBAA Maintenance Committee, like AMTSociety, is dedicated to promoting technical education and professional development as a means for corporate maintenance technicians to enhance their careers.

The Maintenance Committee's purpose is to address the high level strategic issues pertinent to the maintenance operations of NBAA member companies. The committee has oversight of the Maintenance Management Conference and the Maintenance Scholarship Program. NBAA Maintenance Committee officers include representatives from NBAA, the FAA, and NCATT.

Hendershot holds A&P Certification with Inspection Authorization and has worked as an aviation professional for more than 50 years. He has received the FAA Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ruby, Diamond, and Diamond Medallion AMT Awards of Excellence. Hendershot was the National AMT of the Year for 2003, and he received the Charles E. Taylor Master Mechanic Award on May 24, 2005. On Oct. 22, 2005, he received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award.

Hendershot serves on the Northrop Rice Foundation board, the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC), FAA Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Executive Committee (ARAC), FAA AMT Awards Committee, and NCATT.

AMTSociety was formed in 2005 as an affinity group to provide online certification testing and renewal programs and to provide benefits and industry resources to members. It was made a full-fledged association in November 2006. It is in the process of holding IA renewal seminars across the country.

The AMTSociety board of directors includes Peter Zeeb, chairman; Ken MacTiernan; Robert Drake; George Miller Jr.; Joe Hawkins; Jim Sparks; and Gary Goodpaster, secretary. AMTSociety’s Maintenance Summit is held annually along with Aviation Industry Expo; next year it will be held March 10-12, in Las Vegas.
