LAKELAND, FL – In recognition of his "spectacular demonstration of airmanship, seamanship, judgment, and decision-making" that saved all on USAirways Flight 1549 last week, the Seaplane Pilots Association (SPA) presents Captain Chelsey Sullenberger with an honorary lifetime membership in the Association. In addition, SPA Field Director Jon Brown is offering a complimentary seaplane rating course to Captain Sullenberger at the world-famous Jack Brown's Seaplane Base in Winter Haven, FL.

In a letter to Captain Sullenberger, SPA Executive Director James McManus wrote, "There isn’t a seaplane pilot in the world that could accomplish what you did last week on USAirways Flight 1549 ... the sight of those videos of your Airbus textbook water landing, at just the perfect attitude and airspeed, are awe-inspiring."

SPA's Florida Field Director Jon Brown joined SPA in honoring Capt. Sullenberger with a complimentary seaplane rating course at the world-famous Brown’s Seaplane Base in Winter Haven, FL. McManus wrote, "Jon promises that your next water landings will be much more enjoyable than your first! ... We would be honored to count you among our ranks."
