STC apply to Universal Avionics EFI-890R EFIS system, Vision 1 Synthetic Vision System, Application Server Unit, WSI AV-300 Weather Data Link, and Thommen AC-32 Air Data System.

COLUMBIA, MO -- Columbia Avionics has obtained FAA STC certification of the Universal Avionics EFI-890R EFIS system, Vision 1 Synthetic Vision System, Application Server Unit, WSI AV-300 Weather Data Link, and Thommen AC-32 Air Data System in the Gulfstream Astra 1125 (G100) aircraft. Columbia Avionics has previously obtained STC Certification of the same systems in the Cessna Citation 500 series and 650 series aircraft.

The EFI-890R is a flat panel electronic display based upon Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) technology. An installation of EFI-890Rs provides for the display of all primary flight information normally associated with an Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Navigation Display (ND). The EFI-890R is classed as a Type I – Primary Flight and Navigation Display. The system, as installed, consists of a three-panel installation with a PFD and ND pair installed and a second, standalone PFD. The large format primary flight displays (PFD) will combine the attitude, heading, airspeed, altimeters, vertical speed, radar altimeter and navigation information on to one display. The ND will display weather information from the ship’s onboard weather radar system, GPS/FMS navigation data, weather data link, JeppView approach plates, TCAS, EGPWS, and other information.

The system is designed to replace older, less reliable EFIS systems such as the Collins EFIS-85. The high reliability of the Universal Avionics flat panel results in vastly improved dispatch reliability and reduced pilot workload. The system will also result in improved safety due to the enhanced situational awareness, digital electronics for improved accuracy and dependability, dual redundancy with reversionary display capability and the fault-tolerant built-in test.

The Universal Avionics Vision-1 System provides a 3-D synthetic vision view of the terrain around the aircraft greatly enhancing situational awareness and safety. The Universal Avionics Application server allows the EFI-890R system to display Jeppesen approach plates, electronic documents, WSI weather and checklists. The WSI AV-300 Weather Data Link provides the crew with real time weather, include NEXRAD radar, METARs and other valuable weather information.
