Aveos rehires all laid-off staff, looking for 30 more.

Six months after laying off about 65 aircraft mechanics -- all of whom have since been hired back -- one of the largest aircraft maintenance shops in Western Canada had to beat the bushes to fill an extra 100 positions.

Officials from Aveos, formerly Air Canada Technical Services (or ACTS), have been interviewing people across the country looking for skilled workers to keep up with demand at the Winnipeg shop.

Paul Heide, Aveos vice-president of airframe maintenance and general manager of the Winnipeg facility, said customer volume started to increase at the end of last year and into this year.
