H+S Aviation has received authorization for repair and overhaul of the Hamilton Sundstrand T40-1 auxiliary power unit used on Sikorsky Blackhawk and Seahawk helicopters.

Anaheim, California - February 21, 2009…BBA Aviation’s Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) company H+S Aviation has received authorization for repair and overhaul of the Hamilton Sundstrand T40-1 auxiliary power unit used on Sikorsky Blackhawk and Seahawk helicopters. The five year agreement establishes H+S Aviation as an Authorized Repair Facility (ARF).

"The T40-1 authorization dovetails very nicely with our GE T700 authorization on the Blackhawk’s main propulsion engines," commented H+S Aviation Managing Director, Chris Head. "This gives us the opportunity to offer our repair and overhaul services as a package and enables the customer to use one resource for their engine support services." There are more than 2,000 T700 powered Blackhawk and Seahawk helicopters in operation around the world, many of them using the 90 SHP T40-1 for an APU.

H+S Aviation has worked on other models of Hamilton Sundstrand APU products for more than 10 years, performing repair and overhaul on engines and components. "We are very familiar with the products,” said Head, “and are quickly tooling up for the T40-1." Test cell correlation and training for the T40-1 is being completed in February and customer engines are being accepted starting in March.
