Safety Expert Huntzinger Joins Baldwin Aviation
Huntzinger has served as a vice president of safety, security, and compliance for two airlines.
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC — Dr. Dave Huntzinger, who has led a variety of Safety and Security programs at airlines and aerospace companies throughout his more than 30 years in aviation, has joined Baldwin Aviation.
A noted author and speaker, Huntzinger has served as a vice president of safety, security, and compliance for two airlines — Korean Air and America West — and held leadership positions at TAG Aviation, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, and Bell Helicopter, in addition to serving as a safety and security consultant during his career. A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, he is both a licensed fixed wing pilot with Air Transport, Commercial, Instrument, and Multi-engine ratings and a licensed rotorcraft pilot, as well.
"Dave brings an impressive and extremely broad resume to Baldwin Aviation," says Don Baldwin, president and Chief Executive Officer of the aviation safety management and support firm. "He has experience in all aspects of aviation safety, security, auditing, operations, and emergency response for both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. He has received special recognition for his work, including being named Aerospace Journalist of the Year twice, in 2006 and 2008, by the World Leadership Forum, London, and serving as the keynote speaker at the Flight Safety Foundation's International Air Safety Seminar in 2007. He is an extremely welcome addition to our team."
Huntzinger is a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He received a Master of Science degree in Safety from the University of Southern California and his doctorate, also in Safety, from Union Institute and University in Cincinnati. He served as an officer and helicopter pilot in the US Coast Guard for five years.
"Dave can address virtually any issue a flight operation can face with the confidence and insight that comes from having been there before," says Baldwin. "In his career, he has been responsible for everything from occupational and environmental concerns, to airport safety, to maintenance, to carriage of hazardous materials. He has flown professionally in both fixed wing and rotary aircraft and is familiar with the challenges posed in both types of operations. And, he's an established teacher and speaker, having developed and delivered numerous training programs, too. His presence will obviously expand Baldwin Aviation's reputation for experience and expertise."
