May 7, 2009
Financial, IT, and legal experts in the area of emissions trading will share their experiences.

According to the EU Emissions Trading Directive 2008/101/EC, from 2012 on every international airline with commercial flights from and to the EU area will have to participate in the mandatory EU CO2 Emissions Trading Scheme.

Gallehr Sustainable Risk Management GmbH estimates that mid-sized companies with a yearly fuel consumption of some 500,000 tons of Kerosene could see cost risks of up to $40 million per year. A directive requires the first submission from airline operators by Aug. 31, 2009.

Gallehr and Partners invites everyone to a conference at which financial, IT, and legal experts in the area of emissions trading will share their experiences.

During the evening reception the German Ministerialdirigent Franzjosef Schafhausen of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety, one of the main architects of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, will give a key note speech about the broader perspectives regarding the aims and targets of international Emissions Trading Schemes.
