Qantas Seals Deal to Keep Brisbane Jobs
More than 500 aircraft maintenance jobs saved by negotiating more flexible working arrangements with employees.
Qantas chief executive officer Alan Joyce says the Brisbane heavy maintenance base will start working on the company's Airbus A330 fleet from next year.
The Boeing 767s that had been maintained at the Brisbane facility are being phased out.
The Brisbane facility employs 510 people and Joyce says employees have agreed to flexible arrangements that mean the fleet will be maintained in Australia from next year, instead of overseas.
