As part of its continuing investigation into an accident in which a business jet overran the runway during takeoff in Columbia, South Carolina, killing four and injuring two, the National Transportation Safety Board will open the public accident docket on Friday, August 7, 2009.
On September 19, 2008, at 11:53 p.m. EDT, a Bombardier Learjet 60 (N999LJ), operated by Global Exec Aviation, overran runway 11 while departing Columbia Metropolitan Airport. The pilot, copilot, and two of the four passengers were killed; the two other passengers were seriously injured. The aircraft was destroyed by a postcrash fire. The chartered passenger flight was bound for Van Nuys, California.
The information being released is factual in nature and does not provide any analysis. It will include investigative group factual reports, the transcript of the cockpit voice recorder, and other documents from the investigation.
