ToolingU.com Expands into Welding, Rigging and Robotics Training

Aug. 12, 2009
Both robotics and rigging are new subject areas, while the new welding training enhances Toolingu.com’s existing welding curriculum.

Cleveland, OH – Toolingu.com, a leading provider of online training for the manufacturing industry, has released three new training subjects. The new releases include training on robotics, rigging, and welding. Both robotics and rigging are new subject areas, while the new welding training enhances Toolingu.com’s existing welding curriculum.

According to Chad Schron, Vice President of Toolingu.com, each new topic addresses a different customer base. Said Schron, “The new welding content adds to our existing welding classes. A number of our customers wanted to see oxyfuel welding and more on visual weld inspections. With the robotics, we really address maintenance professionals in larger automated facilities. And the rigging is more of a core topic that cuts across a very broad range of potential users.”

The robotics content primarily focuses on maintenance professionals, and not robot design. According to Greg Herlevi, Director of Content for Toolingu.com, “Robots are not foolproof. They need proper maintenance just like any other piece of equipment.” Herlevi also added that robot maintenance requires knowledge of mechanical drives and motors, pneumatics, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), which already are included in the company’s curriculum.

Toolingu.com’s existing welding training focused primarily on the most common arc welding processes, which use electricity to heat the base metal. The new training content addresses oxyfuel welding, visual inspection of welds, and plasma cutting.

Toolingu.com’s rigging training focuses on proper attachment and use of cable, chains, slings and hoists, as well as other essential topics such as proper load calculations, and rigging safety. The company sees this content as a complement to other entry-level topics such as shop math, print reading, and safety.

Toolingu.com offers training packages for machinists, maintenance professionals, welders, and assemblers, as well as custom-created training material for Fortune 500 manufacturers. For more information about Toolingu.com, visit www.toolingu.com or contact a TU sales representative at 1-866-706-8665.
