2009 CAF AIRSHO, the Best Warbird Show in America, will hit the skies Oct. 10 -11, 2009 above Midland International Airport between Midland and Odessa, Texas.

Midland, Texas (Sept. 2, 2009) — Audiences at air shows across the country are growing and the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) expects the trend to continue at the 2009 CAF AIRSHO® presented by Western National Bank.

The Best Warbird Show in America will hit the skies Oct. 10 -11, 2009 above Midland International Airport between Midland and Odessa, Texas. This year, AIRSHO takes a step back in time with ticket pricing at just $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12 (when purchased in advance).

“Attendance at air shows across the country [is] expected to hit almost 14 million, up 20 percent from last year,” said CBS Evening News reporter Bill Whitaker.

CBS Evening News reported that the current state of the economy has prompted families to “stay closer to home and look for cost effective entertainment alternatives for the family.” Air shows seem to be the answer to this dilemma for many Americans. (CBS Evening News, Aug. 23, 2009)

"We hope that our neighbors in Midland-Odessa and surrounding areas take advantage of the reduced ticket prices that the CAF has made for AIRSHO,” said CAF President, Stephan Brown. “With the support of Western National Bank and other sponsors, we plan to give families an event that will be exciting and a worthy alternative to getting out of town. A family of four will be able to attend for only $40. No where else can you find world-class family entertainment for this price.”

The CAF may have reduced ticket prices in 2009, but your Saturday AIRSHO admission ticket gets you something extra! For the first time, the CAF is hosting The CAF Retro USO* Show, a USO-style show immediately following AIRSHO on Saturday Oct. 10th. At the Saturday evening event you will enjoy live entertainment to rival the glamour and excitement of the World War II USO shows that brought a piece of home to the men and women protecting our freedom overseas. Great food and beverages will be available for purchase and the bomber and fighter ramps will reopen for an up-close look at some of the most unique planes in the world!

Tickets are available now at www.airsho.org, Western National Bank locations in Midland and Odessa, and FINA 7-Eleven locations in Midland, Odessa, Big Spring and Lubbock. You can also purchase your tickets at the Commemorative Air Force Headquarters at Midland International Airport at 9600 Wright Drive.

On Saturday morning the AIRSHO gates open at 7:30 a.m. to give attendees plenty of time to view the static aircraft before the flying begins. AIRSHO features over 100 aircraft on display and in the air, ranging from early vintage aircraft to the thundering sounds of today's American military.

Collecting, restoring and flying vintage historical aircraft for more than half a century, the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) ranks as one of the largest private air forces in the world. The CAF is dedicated to Honoring American Military Aviation through flight, exhibition and remembrance. A non-profit educational association, the CAF has approximately 9,000 members and a fleet of 156 airplanes distributed throughout the country to 74 units located in 27 states for care and operation.
