Riverside, CA – Flabob Airport will host the annual TravelAir Fly-In on Friday and Saturday, October 2nd and 3rd. Mark Lightsey, organizer for the event indicated that many aircraft are expected to arrive on Thursday and be on the airport until Sunday morning. The group will attend Flabob’s weekly “Flabob Flicks” on Friday night. They plan a fly-out to Chino on Saturday and will be providing “buddy rides” during their time at Flabob. Saturday night the attendees will participate in a dinner at the airport café.

Lightsey indicated they are expecting about a dozen TravelAir biplanes and he also anticipates that two of the three flying TravelAir 6000s, a monoplane version, will attend the event. About 60 to 80 members of the TravelAir Restoration Association are expected to attend the Saturday dinner.

On Saturday morning, in conjunction with the Fly-In, students active in the Stinson 108-3 restoration project will be on hand to show their progress with the aircraft. Young people who have participated in the Wathen Foundation Air Academies and the Young Eagles program are eligible to work on the project. After 2.5 years of work, they are approaching the halfway mark in the program. Alan Shackleton, who donated the Stinson, will be present Saturday to inspect the progress of the students.

The public is invited to visit Flabob during the Fly-In and Stinson Open House. Parking and admission are free.
