Chromalloy Names Mike Beffel, PhD, Vice President of Operations
Beffel has more than 22 years of experience in the castings industry, with the majority of his career in investment casting.
ORANGEBURG, N.Y., October 27, 2009 – Chromalloy announced today that Dr. Mike Beffel has been named Vice President of Operations.
“Mike is an exceptional leader whose education, expertise and depth of materials knowledge is outstanding,” said Armand F. Lauzon, Jr., President. “He will be instrumental in leading Operations as the company expands around the world in size and capability.”
Beffel has more than 22 years of experience in the castings industry, with the majority of his career in investment casting. He joined Chromalloy in 2008 as Vice President, Operations, Industrial Gas Turbine, New Parts & Military.
Prior to Chromalloy, he led a business unit at PCC Airfoils, a division of Precision Castparts Corp., a global producer of investment castings for aircraft and industrial turbine engines. At PCC Airfoils he led multiple sites and also the design, construction and qualification of a new production facility for the production of industrial gas turbine (IGT) components.
Earlier Beffel worked in technical leadership positions at Hayes Lemmerz International and Hayes Wheels International, tier-one suppliers to the global automotive industry.
He began his career at PCC Airfoils as a Principal Engineer. An industry expert, Beffel has authored numerous articles in peer reviewed publications and holds a patent for an investment casting technology.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering and a Master of Science in chemical engineering, both from the University of Michigan. He additionally holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, with an emphasis on the thermodynamic behavior of casting solidification, from the University of Michigan.
Chromalloy is a global supplier of advanced repairs and services for gas turbines used in aviation and land-based applications and repairs.
The company refurbishes and manufactures engine components, and designs and manufactures FAA-approved replacement parts for aircraft engines that are certified to meet or exceed the performance, reliability and durability specifications of original equipment manufacturer parts.
