West Star Aviation Performs Falcon Wing Tank Dry Bay Modification

Feb. 17, 2010
The modification is in compliance with Dassault’s recent service bulletin, which stated the modification mandatory for all Falcon 50, 900, and 2000 series.

East Alton, IL, February 17, 2010 – West Star Aviation’s East Alton, IL, (ALN) facility has been trained to perform wing tank dry bay modifications on Falcon 50, 900, and 2000 series. The modification is in compliance with Dassault’s recent service bulletin, which stated the modification mandatory for all Falcon 50, 900, and 2000 series.

It is anticipated that EASA and the FAA will issue an Airworthiness Directive (AD) on these aircraft following the issuance of Dassault’s mandatory Service Bulletins. These service bulletins were put in place to prevent a potential fuel spill during a high speed runway excursion. It consists of adding a sealed boundary to the front of the wing rear spar between ribs 4 and 5. Dry Bay modification is very labor intensive due to the fact both LH and RH Lower Wing Structural Panels (Planks) have to be removed for access to accomplish the modification.

West Star Aviation, Inc. would recommend the compliance of this mod in conjunction with your next C Inspection. If you operate a Falcon 50 and are scheduling other maintenance into West Star Aviation such as a “C” inspection, SB 460 (CPCP Inspection), Collins Proline 21 or Universal EFI-890 installation, exterior paint, interior upgrade, and/or the TFE731-4 Engine Retrofit this would be a good time to complete the dry-bay mod. If you operate a Falcon 2000, West Star Aviation is an authorized installation center for the Aviation Partners winglets and can comply with the dry-bay during the installation of the winglets. If you operate a Falcon 900, the dry-bay mod can be completed during the next C inspection, interior upgrade, exterior paint or avionics upgrade; West Star Aviation is scheduling Falcon 900’s right now for their upcoming “4C” inspections.
