The Sporty’s Foundation Issues Annual Report

Chronicling a successful year supporting general aviation, The Sporty's Foundation Annual Report is available at SportysFoundation.org. The Sporty's Foundation has as its mission funding aviation education and safety programs with an emphasis on youth. More than a half million dollars has been granted by The Sporty's Foundation in just the last three years.

The largest grant went to the Experimental Aircraft Association for Next Step — an exciting new youth aviation initiative. The purpose of Next Step is to jumpstart the number of young people who learn to fly by making Sporty's Complete Flight Training Course available for free to all Young Eagles, past, present and future.

In addition to free access to Sporty's online course, each Young Eagle will receive an official logbook with guidance on how to pursue his/her interest in aviation. The Foundation's support also created a Youth Programs Manager position at EAA headquarters in Oshkosh, WI.

Counting Next Step, The Sporty's Foundation made grants for 2009 in the total amount of $202,065. This sum included grants for flight training and maintenance training scholarships as well as to the AOPA Air Safety Foundation, the Boy Scouts of America, Build A Plane and others. Online donations are also being accepted, either as a one time payment or a recurring monthly charge. As a 501(c)3 foundation, all donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
