Recent NTSB Recommendations for Business Jets Underscore the Value of SmartStem Wireless Tire Pressure System

Crane Aerospace & Electronics can assist operators in adopting a solution for simplifying frequent tire pressure checks for proper business jet maintenance.

Lynnwood, WA – April 14, 2010 – In light of the recent recommendation in NTSB aircraft accident report AAR-10-02, dated April 6, 2010, Crane Aerospace & Electronics is eager to assist operators in adopting a solution for simplifying frequent tire pressure checks for proper business jet maintenance.

Crane has developed an innovative solution that is easy to use, convenient, fast, and does not allow gas to escape as typically occurs during a manual pressure check. Crane’s SmartStem® technology replaces the existing tire inflation valve stem with a special passive, wireless tire pressure sensor that communicates tire pressure and temperature to a handheld reader, automatically storing thousands of tire pressure data records. These records can be seamlessly downloaded via USB or Bluetooth, greatly simplifying the daily management of tire pressure measurements.

SmartStem has been certified by Crane Aerospace & Electronics on the Sovereign and Citation X since April, 2008. Existing customers have lauded the solution’s flight-proven reliability, ease of use, and impeccable accuracy. Additionally, certification of SmartStem on the Cessna 560 and 650 is expected during the second quarter of 2010, and Learjet 60 during the third quarter. Certification on many additional business jets is expected to follow in late 2010 and early 2011.

Crane is ready to assist interested operators in adopting this solution. Current operators of Cessna 680 and 750 jets should contact Cessna at 1-800-835-4000 for availability, pricing, and order instructions. Additional information can be found at www.craneae.com/SmartStem.
