Able Engineering Awarded USAF Contract
Company to Overhaul Components for the KC-135 Stratotanker.
Phoenix, Arizona - May 4, 2010. Able Engineering &?Component Services took a major step forward this year with the winning of a new contract from the United States Air Force. The announcement follows an extensive audit process by USAF personnel visiting their Phoenix, Arizona facility in December of last year. Able is now beginning work on components for the KC-135 Stratotanker out of Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City (the Air Force’s largest logistics center in the United States and home to OC-ALC, the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center).
The KC-135, a modified Boeing 707, was initially designed to refuel strategic bombers. However, that role has been altered to include mid-air refueling for Navy and Air Force tactical fighters and bombers. There are nearly 500 KC-135’s currently in service, with most being flown by reserve and guard units.
“We are very excited to provide these affordable replacement parts to the Air Force,” said Able Engineering President, Lee Benson. “We offer certified, guaranteed parts that erase long lead-times and significantly reduce operating costs immediately.”
