Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services Opens Line Maintenance Station for Business Jets

June 8, 2010
LBAS will set up a line maintenance station in Riga, Latvia, in the summer of 2010.

Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services GmbH (LBAS), Berlin based leading specialist in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Bombardier Business Aircraft, will set up a line maintenance station in Riga, Latvia, in the summer of 2010. Together with its local Partner, Baltic Business Aviation Center Ltd. (BBAC) / FBO Riga Ltd., and Lufthansa Technik's VIP & Executive Jet Solutions division, LBAS will offer line maintenance support for corporate aircraft including Bombardier* Learjet*, Challenger* and Global* business jets, as well as Airbus ACJ and Boeing BBJ models.

While FBO Riga will provide hangar space for aircraft maintenance in proximity to its Fixed Base Operation (FBO) at Riga International Airport, LBAS will provide manpower, tools and material support for the increasing number of business aircraft based in Riga and for transient aircraft as well.

The VIP line station in Riga will operate under the LBAS maintenance approval for Bombardier aircraft. The Mobile Aircraft and Cabin Support (MACS) team, part of Lufthansa Technik's VIP & Executive Jet Solutions division headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, will support Boeing and Airbus aircraft. MACS is a new service that offers VIP customers maintenance and cabin support wherever their aircraft are located. Rather than flying large aircraft, up to Boeing 747s or Airbus A340s, to a maintenance location, the MACS teams can perform maintenance at the aircraft's home base.

Andreas Kaden, Managing director of LBAS, said: "This venture with our partners from BBAC and our colleagues from Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg is not only an excellent opportunity to further grow our business in Eastern Europe. It also enables our existing customers from the region to use a local maintenance service that fulfils the same quality requirements as all other Lufthansa Technik sites."

Dr. Leonid Gorodnitski, Member of the Board of Baltic Business Aviation Center, added: "We are very glad to team up with well-known and extremely professional partners like LBAS and Lufthansa Technik. This partnership will allow us to jointly offer high class maintenance services to our existing customers and, due to the cooperation synergy, to further expand the customers' network."

Lufthansa Technik VIP & Executive Jet Solutions provides a broad portfolio of completion, interior and maintenance services for a wide range of VIP aircraft. In addition to locations in Germany, Switzerland and the USA the Lufthansa Technik VIP Network also offers mobile maintenance, repair and overhaul services and home base support for many VIP and head of state customers worldwide.
