July 1, 2010
Lufthansa Systems is one of the leading IT service providers for the airline and aviation industries worldwide.

Lufthansa Systems today announced that Stefan Hansen has taken over as CEO of Lufthansa Systems AG effective July 1, 2010. He is succeeding Wolfgang F. W. Gohde, who has left the company after five years.

“I am pleased that we have found an experienced and acknowledged expert like Stefan Hansen, who knows the company very well and can give it new momentum thanks to his extensive knowledge of the industry,” said Stephan Gemkow, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa Systems AG.

Hansen has been familiar with Lufthansa Systems since 1999 and held various positions in his seven years with the company, most recently heading the Infrastructure Services division. Under his leadership, business with customers outside of the Lufthansa Group expanded significantly.

“Some of Lufthansa Systems’ greatest assets are its skilled, dedicated employees and a portfolio of products with functionalities and benefits far exceeding those of the competition,” Hansen said upon taking office. As the leading IT service provider in the industry, Lufthansa Systems focuses on the development of innovative products for the aviation market. The company places particular importance on integrated platform solutions which cover all of an airline’s business processes. “With its products and technological superiority, the company is in a good position to acquire new customers and take advantage of market opportunities,” Hansen said.

Stefan Hansen studied electrical engineering at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences. After working for Siemens and Unilever, he moved to Körber AG in 1994, where he headed the Central Applications department, managed a restructuring project and established the IT strategy of Körber PaperLink.

He joined Lufthansa Systems in 1999 and initially took over the Desktop and Network Services department. In 2001, he became managing director of the subsidiary Lufthansa Systems Infratec GmbH and from 2004 also managed Lufthansa Systems Network GmbH. Hansen was appointed managing director of EDS Operations Services GmbH in 2006 and later also of EDS Business Solutions GmbH. During that time, he was responsible for Service Delivery to more than 300 outsourcing customers in Northern and Central Europe.

The second member of the Lufthansa Systems Executive Board is Dr. Gunter Küchler, who has served on the board since October 2002. He heads the company’s infrastructure business, which includes the management of high-performance networks, the operation of complex, heterogeneous IT systems and process consulting, among other things. Dr. Küchler is also responsible for sales and marketing and thus for positioning Lufthansa Systems in the international market.
