TAP Maintenance and Engineering Brazil Begins Intern Program 2010

The Program focuses on mid-level students in technical courses, starting in the second year, in university courses, starting in the third year, and in mechanics courses for aircraft maintenance, starting at any time during the course.
Rio de Janeiro, July 01, 2010. In order to develop young talents to form its own qualified labor force, in the medium and long term, TAP Maintenance and Engineering Brazil begins today its Intern Program 2010, entitled “First Steps”, by announcing the first 100 openings on its site (www.tapme,com.br) and in participating courses and universities from Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre.

The Program focuses on mid-level students in technical courses, starting in the second year, in university courses, starting in the third year, and in mechanics courses for aircraft maintenance, starting at any time during the course. The internship is for a six-hour daily period and offers a monetary assistance, lunch at work, and a transportation support. The Program covers the Company’s operational and administrative areas, which will receive students from Engineering, Mechanics, Electronics, Logistics, Information Technology, Administration, and Accounting courses, among others.

The internship period may be for up to two years, and will be renewed every six months, after a performance assessment. The assessment is done by the intern’s Supervisor and by the Manager of the area to which the student has been assigned. At the end of the first year, and after two assessments, depending on the course, the intern may be hired, if they are interested and if there is available vacant.

“The possibilities of being hired are very high,” explains Company President Nestor Mauro Koch. “Our basic objective is to consistently and quickly prepare our own qualified workforce. The students in the aircraft mechanics course are a good example, who may be hired after the just one year in the internship program. We plan to form the first, “home-trained” interns in August 2011, and hire them if there is vacant at that time.”

The interns will receive theoretical and practical training within their area of technical study and the specific area in which they work in the Company. There will be a training round robin, where interns will go through several areas, so as to awaken their interest in a specific activity. Each student will have a mentor, who will be their guide through the entire intern stage. The intern stage counts as practical experience for the requesting of ANAC’s (Brazil’s civil aviation agency) CHT card (Technical Expertise Certificate).

In order to make application, the candidate must send a résumé, by e-mail, to [email protected], complying with the following requirements: minimum of 18 years of age and enrolled in one of the above-mentioned courses. The student will go through a selection process that includes an evaluation of logical reasoning, knowledge test, and individual interview, during elimination stages. It is also desirable that the intern be familiar with English and a user’s knowledge of information technology, as well as other skills, such as proactive and team spirit.

The PPT Program is called “First Steps at TAP M&E Brazil”, because the Company feels that the students are taking their first steps to building their careers. Capable professionals, who are up to date with the most modern practices of the aeronautics industry and committed to the Company will become a part of TAP M&E Brazil’s most important asset: its intellectual capital.
