LAN CARGO Signs with AFI KLM E&M for Boeing 777 freighter Component Support and Engine Overhauls

Paris, Amstelveen, 16 July 2010 – AFI KLM E&M has won a component support contract for LAN CARGO Boeing 777 freighters and for the overhaul of their GE90-110 engines. Agreed in the framework of the Boeing 777 CSP partnership, the Components contract includes repairs for aircraft and engine components and pool access for routine replacements. The Engines contract was signed on a flight-hour basis with access to spare engines.

First successful contract.

The Latin American carrier has decided to continue working with AFI KLM E&M after it had already benefited from the MRO’s expertise under a component support contract for its fleet of Boeing 767s. The new contract is for a minimum period of eight years and covers up to four B777 freighters. Two are already in revenue service Signed in the framework of the Boeing 777 CSP partnership, the Component support contract includes repairs on 600 LRUs and 50 engine components, together with access to the spares pool for routine replacements.

Experience gained serving the parent company.

The Engines contract covers flight-hour maintenance of the GE90-110 engines equipping the B777s. AFI KLM E&M will accordingly take care of shop visits and on-wing support. And although LAN Airlines already has a spare engine, it is also planned to supply a second replacement engine. For its engine maintenance requirements LAN CARGO has put its trust in the experience acquired with the B777 fleet of AFI KLM E&M’s parent company, AIR FRANCE KLM.
