Air Europa agreement with AFI KLM E&M for the maintenance of CF6-80E1 engines, equipping their A330 aircraft.

Paris, Amstelveen, 20 july 2010 – Air Europa signed an agreement with AFI KLM E&M for the maintenance of CF6-80E1 engines, equipping their A330 aircraft. The agreement is related to maintenance of CF6-80E1 engines that require shop visits. Proven quality and experience in operating and maintaining CF6-80E1 engines, stable and competitive turnaround time and competitive overall cost, made Air Europa choose for AFI KLM E&M to maintain the engines of its fleet of A330 aircraft. In addition, AFI KLM E&M can offer additional services as on site repairs, engineering support and supply of a spare engine.

The AFI KLM E&M engine shop at Schiphol is one of the shops that can perform maintenance on CF6-80E1 power plants. Since 2006, close to 100 shop visits were done in the shop. Over 80 engines from other shops were tested as AFI KLM E&M as there is limited test cell capability in the world for this type of engine. The creation of a new engine shop at Schiphol in 2004, substantially boosted engine maintenance capacity. AFI KLM E&M and its customers will be able to take the forecasted upcoming surge in CF6-80E1 shop visits in their stride. The maintenance facilities at Amsterdam can deliver tailor-made, integrated solutions to match customer needs.

Alberto Lines, Director of Engineering & Maintenance of Air Europa said: “AFI KLM E&M has achieved a demonstrated knowledge and experience maintaining and testing the CF6-80E1 engine at their Amsterdam shop. As Air France KLM operates a combined fleet of 25 A330 aircraft powered by same engine, it assures understanding of operational issues and customers can benefit from the operational experience. AFI KLM E&M may also provide spare engine support and their global Line Maintenance network may deploy immediate AOG teams to support Air Europa fleet”.
