Chromalloy Announces FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER)
Fariba Lingnau is the company’s first woman to receive DER appointment.
ORANGEBURG, N.Y., July 28, 2010 – Chromalloy announced today that Fariba Lingnau has received appointment from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Designated Engineering Representative (DER). Lingnau is the company’s first woman to receive DER appointment from the FAA.
“Fariba has successfully completed the multi-year DER process and satisfied the stringent requirements set forth by the FAA,” said Bruce Johnson, Vice President, Engineering Technical Service, Chromalloy. “Chromalloy is pleased to have her technical expertise and FAA appointment as an additional resource to our customers.”
The role of the DER is to review, evaluate and approve technical data. Designees ensure the proper evaluation of technical data developed by staff, certify compliance with FAA guidelines and regulations, and perform compliance tests and inspections. As an FAA-appointed DER for Chromalloy, Lingnau can approve repairs on behalf of the FAA using technical data developed by Chromalloy.
The company now has 13 DER appointed experts at its locations around the globe.
Lingnau also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in material science and engineering and a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering / metallurgy.
She is based at the company’s Phoenix, Arizona, repair and service center. The facility is a FAA-certificated component repair station specializing in the repair of small turbine engine components for auxiliary power units, business aircraft engines and industrial turbines (less than 12MW). A remanufacturing operation, the facility performs diffused aluminide coating processes for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) including Honeywell.
