The modification is designed to reconfigure 757-200 aircraft into a dual-class configuration by installing VIP first-class sections with lie-flat seats in the forward cabins of the aircraft.

AAR has received design approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Chinese Airworthiness Authority (CAA) for a custom interior modification for 757-200 aircraft operated by Xiamen Airlines. The modification is designed to reconfigure 757-200 aircraft into a dual-class configuration by installing VIP first-class sections with lie-flat seats in the forward cabins of the aircraft.

AAR developed the modification and managed the certification processes needed to obtain the FAA’s Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) and CAA’s Validation of Supplemental Type Certificate (VSTC) approvals. In addition, AAR provided Xiamen Airlines with integration engineering services and custom modification kits that were produced at AAR’s MRO facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A. Xiamen Airlines completed the interior modification on two of its 757-200s at their maintenance facility in Xiamen, China at the Gaoqi International Airport, with support provided by AAR’s Engineering Services personnel.

“Completing this program with Xiamen Airlines is a milestone that we at AAR Engineering Services are very proud of,” said Michael Leung, Director, AAR Engineering Services – Asia. “Through the collaborative efforts of our facilities in Singapore and North America we provided an efficient design and obtained both FAA and CAA approval on time and on budget. We hope to build off the success of this program and provide supplemental engineering support and project management services for more customers in China and throughout Asia.”
