Oct. 13, 2010
Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen has established a new Engine Parts & Accessories Repair (EPAR) product to expand its nacelle services.

Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen has established a new Engine Parts & Accessories Repair (EPAR) product to expand its nacelle services. The new business starts with the repair of common nozzle assemblies and tail cones for the V2500 engine and comprises the complete repair portfolio. If needed, design engineering capabilities will be delivered by Lufthansa Technik's EPAR design organisation in Hamburg.

Dr. Bernd Riggers, President and CEO of Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen said: "Lufthansa Technik ranks among the world's top providers when it comes to engine nacelle repair and overhaul. With the creation of the new product we react to the increasing demand for nacelle services for the V2500 engine which is one of the most popular engines in Asia. It will help us to offer optimal services with local production and short turnaround times."

Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen mechanics and engineers attended the corresponding training course at EPAR's repair and overhaul shop for exhaust nozzle components in Hamburg to be prepared for their new job. During the introductory phase the new team in Shenzhen will also be supported by experienced technicians from EPAR in Hamburg. "The practice of sending out technicians to oversee the startup of a new operation is a proven element of the global quality assurance system of Lufthansa Technik," commented Matthias Malina, Head of Lufthansa Technik's EPAR business unit. He added: "This first EPAR product at Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen can be the nucleus for further local products from Engine Parts and Accessories Repair."

The creation of the new capabilities at Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen is Lufthansa Technik's latest step to guarantee an integrated and customized approach for nacelle services to its clients. Lufthansa Technik now offers the complete local capability for its Nacelle Services product as a one-stop shop service solution for all engine nacelle components, ranging from inlet and fan cowl to thrust reverser and exhaust nozzle up to and including the exhaust cone.

Lufthansa Technik's Nacelle Services network comprises Lufthansa Technik Hamburg in Germany and Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen in the People's Republic of China. Capabilities are offered for a broad variety of engine types, including the CFM56 family, the GE CF6-80 and the CF34, the IAE V2500, the PW4000 plus the RR Trent 500 and Trent 700.

Additionally, Lufthansa Technik offers engineering, repair and development capabilities, Airline Support Teams AST®, global logistics, loan&exchange and customer services within its Nacelle portfolio.
