This contract covers Thomas Cook Airlines’ A320 and A330 family operations in the UK and Scandinavia.

Thomas Cook Airlines has awarded A J Walter Aviation a multi-million dollar contract to provide component power-by-the-hour and leasing support for its A320 and A330 family aircraft fleets based in the UK and Scandinavia. Winning this long-term 5 year agreement is yet another step forward for AJW who led a partnership of BA Engineering and Iberia Maintenance & Engineering to deliver successfully on what was a comprehensive requirement.

“This has certainly been one of the more challenging competitions we have entered” says Boris Wolstenholme, Chief Executive “but with a low cost base, world class logistics and a flexible commercial approach we have been able to satisfy the stringent requirements demanded of us in this important contract”. “AJW was also able to draw on the vast knowledge and experience of its partners in this process, particularly in respect of their relevant Airbus fleet operations and workshop capabilities.”

Frank Pullman, Managing Director of Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “This was a very detailed, thorough and robust tender process. We have been impressed by AJW’s professional attitude and delivery at all stages of this process and have confidence in its ability to deliver on all our expectations.” This contract covers Thomas Cook Airlines’ A320 and A330 family operations in the UK and Scandinavia from where the airline flies to more than 100 destinations worldwide. The fleet AJW is to support from 1 January 2011 comprises A330 x 7, A321 x 10 and A320 x 12 – a total of 29 aircraft. Thomas Cook Group is a leading travel group with revenues of more than £9bn in 2009.

This new contract once again underlines the benefits of PBH, pooling and leasing options available from AJW. Already highly regarded for its award-winning 24/7 AOG and critical services, AJW is currently growing its total repair management and consignment component services. It is also now able to provide line maintenance consumable consignment and replenishment services. Across all these services, AJW is able to guarantee availability to match dispatch reliability requirements.

Serving a global customer base of more than 700 airlines with over 350 aircraft under contract and 225 on PBH, AJW is the ideal partner for airlines seeking to achieve competitive advantage.
