Limited Openings Remain for EAA SportAir Workshops in Houston on Dec. 4-5

Aviation Institute of Maintenance will host the weekend program at its Houston Campus, 7651 Airport Blvd., located near William P. Hobby Airport on Dec. 4-5.

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. - (Nov. 23, 2010) - Time is running out for aircraft builders to take advantage of limited openings in several EAA SportAir Workshop courses in Houston on Dec. 4-5. EAA SportAir Workshops, supported by Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Co., is a national series of programs offering insight and information on building and restoring aircraft.

Aviation Institute of Maintenance will host the weekend program at its Houston Campus, 7651 Airport Blvd., located near William P. Hobby Airport.

Openings remain for the following courses (dates and fees for EAA members indicated):

* Composite Construction: This two-day course, which will present basic composite building techniques, is an intensive "hands-on" workshop discussing tools needed, safety aspects of composites, moldless construction to include "hot-wiring," bonding methods for composite kitplanes, etc. Dec. 4-5, $269

* Electrical Systems & Avionics: This two-day course centered on the installation process, teaching proper soldering techniques in a "hands-on" workshop. Dec. 4-5, $289

* Fabric Covering: This two-day course focuses on general fabric covering techniques using the Poly Fiber covering process. Dec. 4-5, $269

* What's Involved in Kit Building: This 2 1/2-hour seminar takes attendees through the entire building process, discusses relevant FAA rules, and will dispel some of the common misconceptions involved in building an aircraft. Dec. 4, $25
